Biography

From the Bantry Blues club, Ruairi works as a teacher. The Schools/College he attended: included St. Gobans College/ IT Tralee/ UL. He captained the Cork 2013 Junior Football team to Munster and All-Ireland glory, playing a starring role himself at mid-field. He first played football aged 4 in Wolfe Tone Park. The best advice he was ever given was to pass the ball when you can, not when you have to. He considers being able to kick off both legs the most important skill in football. His best football memory outside of playing was Cork's All-Ireland win in 2010, while as a player, the highlight has been winning an U21 title with his club. His favourite sport other than football is hurling. Biggest influence on his football career has been Graham Canty. The sporting event he would most like to attend is the UFC. To date his favourite moment in sport is winning U-21 West Cork with Bantry Blues in 2012. Favourite Venue: Croke Park. Favourite G.A.A. player: Sean Cavanagh. The sportsperson he would most like to meet is Usain Bolt. The hardest part of his sporting life is balancing work / social life. Toughest player to mark in training is Mark Collins. The joker of the Panel is Brian Hurley. If he won the lotto first thing he would buy is a centre of excellence. Favourite holiday destination: Iceland. Favourite Music: James Blunt Favourite Film: Pretty Woman Favourite Food: Pizza. Favourite Drink: Water.
