National Games Development Conference

The Games Development Conference will take place on Saturday, January 12th 2013 in Croke Park. This year's conference is entitled ‘Coaching Adults - More Than the Sum of Our Parts'. Our Games Development structures are aligned to provide opportunities for players as Child, Youth or Adult participants; so for the first time our annual Games Development Conference will focus on areas related specifically to the participation in our games by the adult player.

A wide range of speakers will present on the day, including former Dublin Senior Football manager Pat Gilroy, current Cork Senior Hurling manager Jimmy Barry Murphy, coach to the Irish Olympic boxing squad Billy Walsh and Horse Trainers and Breeder Jim Bolger.

For more information on the Games Development Conference, visit the Conference section of the Games Development website or email gamesdevelopment@gaa.ie

PRIMARY SCHOOL BLITZ PROGRAMME
A schedule of primary school blitzs are being finalised for the new year at regional and local level to supplement the excellent games schedule run by Sciath na Scol. Sciath na Scol will send blitz details to school e mail addresses.

Monster Go Games U8 Blitzes - Summer 2013 Proposal
Following a very successful programme in 2012, plans for next summer are almost ready, with the series hopefully extending right across the county. It is proposed to give each club the opportunity to enter eight U8 blitzes over the summer months. In May, June, July and August, Monster football blitzes would run on the second Saturday of every month, followed by Monster hurling blitzes on the fourth Saturday of the month. On each date, blitzes would take place at seven venues across the county, with clubs allowed the opportunity to enter as they wished.
Monster Go Games U10 Blitzes - Summer 2013 Proposal
Similarly, at U10 level, one Monster blitz per month would take place from April to September on the third Saturday of the month. This would mean three football and three football blitzes, which would run alongside the regular U10 Go Games provided by the Coiste Oiliuna. Again, it is hoped that seven venues across the county would give a wide geographical spread and minimise travelling for teams. Again, these proposals are about to go to committee level, so all comments are welcome.
