On Saturday, July 13th, the Cork Rebel Og Academy football
squads at U14, U15 and U16 level, travel across Munster for the annual
provincial tournaments. Meanwhile, the hurling squads at U15, U16 and U17 level
will be busy in preparation for their own tournaments later in the year.
This date is a designated date for development squads in the Coiste nan
Og master fixture plan, as per statement by Jim Healy, as follows;
A Chara
Next Saturday sees the Cork U16's at Limerick, U15's at Millstreet,
and U14's at Dungarvan in the Munster Inter County Football Blitzes. As
agreed when compiling the fixture plan 2013 agreement was reached that for the
2 days, Thursday 11th and Friday 12th all players involved in these
competitions woul dbe free from club activity. Likewise on the Sunday
14th and Monday 15th after the Tournamnet they would not be asked to play club
games either.
The co-operation of regional bodies and clubs alike all in
this regard is requested.
Wishing all players the best of luck in these important
games

At U14 level, two panels of 24, under the banners of Cork West and Cork
East will travel to Dungarvan, Co. Waterford for their first taste of
inter-county football action. Cork East includes players from Seandun,
Imokilly, Avondhu and Duhallow, while Cork West features players from the four
western divisions, namely Carbery, Berara, Carrigdhoun and Muskerry. The teams
will be managed by Kevin O'Donovan and James McCarthy, respectively.
These players have come through a selection process over the last six
months, attending divisional and regional trials and were among over 80 players
invited to a training camp at the Old Mon fields at St. Vincent's, last week.
In advance of the next academy camp in August, a county panel of 30 players is
to be formed based on performances at the upcoming tournament. Meanwhile, it is proposed to also set up four
/ five regional panels who would play in competitive inter-regional tournaments
during official academy dates.
On the same date the Rebel Og Academy U15 footballers will travel to
Knocknagree and Dromtarriffe, again under the Cork West and East banners,
respectively. These two panels of 24 have been selected from the Mardyke and
Rebels squads that have trained during academy dates since last October.
Mentors Mick Lucey, Dave Carroll, Brian Herlihy, Stephen Quinn, John Holly,
Denis Lordan and John Magner will oversee both panels.
Finally, the Cork U16 footballers will make the trip to Rathkeale in Limerick, again carrying two panels of 24, this time under the Cork and Corcaigh banners. Mentors Diarmuid O'Donovan, Paul Hollland, Declan O'Connell, Joe Hanlon and Jerry Dineen will oversee both panels.
