To date seven blitzes have taking place in the region with any number between 20 and 36 teams on any given day and every club across the region attending the blitzes locally and around the county. Thankfully the weather has played a big part with the success of the blitzes along with the continued support of Carrigtwohill, Castlemartyr, Killeagh and Aghada who have all kindly made their facilities available for the Blitz programme this year. Below are the details of blitzes being run in the month of july.

Puc Fada 2013 winners
Congratulations to Seamus Coffey (UCC) senior and Declan Dalton (Fr O Neills) U16 who both recently won their respective competitions recently in Pilmore strand. They will be contesting the Munster Poc Fada finals this weekend in the Galtee Mountains in the Glen of Aherlow. Declan had the honour of captaining Imokilly U16s to Munster hurling glory already this year and hopefully he can return home victorious once again with a Munster title.

U13/ U14 Development Squad Updates
Imokilly U14 football squad have recently played a few challenge matches in preparation for a county divisional blitz in St Vincents grounds. Imokilly competed admirably in all matches and 12 players were picked to attend recent Cork training in St Vincents for a development squad week. Cork East will be competing in a Munster U14 tournament this coming weekend. Best of luck to all Imokilly players involved.
Imokilly U14 hurling to date have played a number of matches and training sessions. There is still a large panel of 40 players with the majority of clubs having a few players on the panel. There is a blitz coming up shortly and players will be picked from this once again to attend the Cork development squad week in August in preparation for the All Ireland tournaments in Waterford at the end of that month.
Imokilly U13 Hurling has had 3 sessions to date, every club has had the opportunity to send out a number of players for this squad. Training will continue throughout the next few weeks for all these players. There is over 60 players on the panel at the moment and the players are playing matches and getting coaching tips at the sessions. There will be current and former intercounty players taking sessions over the coming weeks. A panel will be picked in late September for matches against Dublin county teams. Until then every club will have a number of players on the panel at any giving time for some specialised coaching.
Imokilly U13 Football will be getting started shortly. We will be training and playing matches in preparation for intercounty games in November. Again every club will be afforded the opportunity to send out a number of players over the coming months for some coaching.
Lee flag programme 2013
The Lee Flag Programme 2013 is a club awards scheme, under the auspicious of Cork GAA Games Development (Coiste Oiliuna), the aim of which is to promote best practice in coaching and games development at club level. It is hoped that all clubs will strive to meet the 15 targets identified as key factors in terms of promoting our games amongst our child and youth players. Of course, the magnificent work already carried out at club level in a wide range of other areas in terms of coaching and providing a programme of games is recognised. However, the criteria below provide a useful range of goals to ensure the further embellishment of such work.

Please note that failure to complete any of the required tasks will prohibit access to the reward scheme overleaf. However, all of the targets represent best practice in games development terms regardless and all clubs are encouraged to reach as many as possible in 2013. It is hoped that the scheme will continue annually and that the targets will continue to provide a roadmap for clubs to aspire to in terms of increasing participation and optimising playing standards.
