Monday saw the City U13 footballers receive expert coaching from Keith Ricken, Paudie O Brien and John Holly at the wonderful C.I.T. complex.
The basics of catching and kicking were emphasised to the 40 players present on the day. This is part of a weekly coaching programme which the boys will be attending over the next month.

Tuesday saw bright sunshine greet the 60+ boys who attended Day One of the School Of Hurling coaching clinics in Castlemartyr for boys at U13 and U14 level.
This clinic will resume on Thursday morning.
The main emphasis here is on the first touch and striking.
Meanwhile, the U13 and U14 hurlers in Duhallow had a very special training session with Sean Og O hAilpin in Ballyhass Lakes Complex organised by Jim O Sullivan who has been at the forefront of many positive Duhallow hurling stories in recent years. The 40 boys who attended were given advice from the ex Cork star in the basics of first touch and striking but also in the area of work rate and the importance of regaining possession when it is lost during a game.
Tuesday also saw the opening day of the Provincial Activity Football Blitzes at u 12 level in Pairc Ui Rinn. This event was coordinated by Provincial Games Manager Pat O Shea and 16 clubs from Cork were represented, pitting their skills against clubs from all over the province. These Blitzes concluded on Wednesday.

On the Northside of the city on Wednesday, GDA Paudie O Brien was to be working with the city U13 hurlers on the basics of striking and first touch but that session was postponed due to the torrential rain at the time. However, the players were brought indoors and given some homework to do in their own time to improve their hurling. Sessions will resume next Wednesday subject to weather.
Meanwhile, Beara region U13 footballers had a session with James MacCarthy, the emphasis being put on kicking and catching and basic movement skills. James has been putting in a lot of quality work in Beara underage football in the last 6 months and this is being well received by the clubs in the region.

Thursday sees the City and West Regional Hurling squads play a development game in Ballinhassig.
It also sees day two of the Imokilly School Of Hurling where a visit from an inter county hurler is being lined up.

The North Region U13 hurling session was cancelled on Wednesday due to the adverse weather but will be back for the next four Wednesdays.
The football equivalent takes place on Friday in Mallow and again, will also run for four weeks.

The very successful Monster Blitzes at U8 and U10 resume on the 10th August with U8 football.

All considered, it has been a very busy week for Cork Coaching and Games Development.

The month of August will continue to be busy with weekly sessions in both hurling and football at U13 level and U14 hurling throughout the month.

The Kelloggs Cúl Camps will continue to provide coaching and games for u 12s and younger players around the county, while preparations are also being put in place for the return of the school term at the end of the month.
