U13/U14 School of Hurling

Players from all the clubs on development squads were at the camp in Castlemartyr, along with additional players in these age groups from clubs that had not got the opportunity to date, but were showing an improvement with their club side over the last while. We had originally organised 2 days but had to reschedule the second day because of the weather. Players will be notified over the coming days with a new date. Players were put through their paces in the wall ball, scoring, first touch and defensive exercises over the course of the day. I would like to thank our excellent coaches Barra O Tuama (Castlematyr), Noel O Brien (St Catherines), Dave Dorgan (Fr O Neills), Philip O Neill (Killeagh) and Padraic Hogan (Carrigtwohill) along with Castlemartyr GAA club for use of their excellent facilities for the camp.

Imokilly U13/U14 squads

Training will continue over the coming weeks, at U14 level players will be selected for upcoming Cork camp for training in preparation for the Tony Forristel tournament on the 31^st Aug in Waterford. Again like the recent Football tournament we will have 12 players from the region.

At U13 level in hurling we will be competing against the other divisions the in a blitz on week of 19^th Aug. This will be an A and B tournament with a panel of 48 selected. We will be playing a selection of Dublin teams in Oct and this will be good preparation for players and management.

Monster Blitz Programme

July was another busy month of blitzes. We had full capacity once again in all our venues. Lisgoold and Fr O Neills hosted U10 hurling, while Killeagh hosted U8 hurling and Aghada hosted U8 football throughout the month.

The following are the dates and venues of blitzes for the month of august.

Kelloggs Cul Camps 2013

The camps have been a roaring success once again this summer. Pa Cronin, Conor Lehane and Damien Cahalane have all taking time out of their busy intercounty schedule to come meet the kids at the camps in the region, they have been fantastic to date signing autographs and standing in for photos with the star struck kids. If Cork beat Dublin this weekend I think they will need personal bodyguards when attending the remaining camps if the last few weeks have being anything to go by.  

Lee flag programme 2013

The Lee Flag Programme 2013 is a  club awards scheme, under the auspicious of Cork GAA Games Development (Coiste Oiliuna), the aim of which is to promote best practice in coaching and games development at club level. It is hoped that all clubs will strive to meet the 15 targets identified as key factors in terms of promoting our games amongst our child and youth players. Of course, the magnificent work already carried out at club level in a wide range of other areas in terms of coaching and providing a programme of games is recognised. However, the criteria below provide a useful range of goals to ensure the further embellishment of such work.

Further details are provided form your local GDA. He will liaise with clubs regarding specific eligibility criteria and completion forms for each of the targets as they arise throughout the year. Please note that failure to complete any of the required tasks will prohibit access to the reward scheme overleaf. However, all of the targets represent best practice in games development terms regardless and all clubs are encouraged to reach as many as possible in 2013. It is hoped that the scheme will continue annually and that the targets will continue to provide a roadmap for clubs to aspire to in terms of increasing participation and optimising playing standards
