A summary of the main activities being worked on this week are as follows :
Following on from the excellent Inter Regional Squad games last week in The North Mon GAA Complex Cork Coaching and Games have a few very exciting projects this week also.
On Monday night Paudie Butler is in Castlemartyr for a wall ball session.
This will be followed up on Saturday with Liam Sheedy in Mallow from 10am to 12pm doing a mix of team building (theory based) and games based (practical hurling) sessions.
Coaches are advised to book early for these sessions.
For further details on coach education please see www.gaa.cork.ie or www.rebelog.ie.
Sean Crowley GDA will be taking bookings for all foundation courses from clubs and if your club wishes to book in a course, then please contact sean.crowley.gda.cork@gaa.ie to arrange dates and times etc.
A new addition to the Coaching Team is Aidan Walsh (Kanturk) on a temporary basis.
Aidan will work in the North Region and has coaching sessions with u14 Post Primary teams in Colaiste Mhuire, Colaiste Treasa (both Kanturk) Patrician Academy Mallow (both hurling and football) and St Colemans Fermoy this week.
Aidan will also be helping with the North Region squads on Sunday morning in Buttevant.
We are delighted to have Aidan on board and his profile will be very well received by pupils in all the schools.
Other additions to the coaching team in recent weeks include Pearse MacCarthy Midleton, Billy O Connell Youghal, Noel O Brien St Catherines and Shane Supple St Itas. All are working in their local areas on Job Bridge schemes and are making huge contributions to our coaching programmes at local level.
In other items this week, the West Region u13 footballers will be in Clonakilty Tuesday night. Over 70 boys will attend for coaching with James MacCarthy and Kevin O Donovan.
The West u 14 hurlers will also be out at the weekend with Kevin O Donovan and a venue is tbc.
Paudie O Brien will have the Seandun u 14 hurlers out on Wednesday evening (St Vincents) while he will also be coaching in Christians and the Mon AG this week. Paudie will be working on club school link coach training on Thursday with St Vincents club school link coaches.
Sean Crowley will be in Sarsfileds on Tuesday night for a club visit and he will be in Midleton on Wednesday morning for club school link coach training.
Sean has an exciting weekend of activity with challenge games on Saturday and Sunday for the East u13 hurlers (2 panels) against Dublin club selections.
James MacCarthy will continue his work at Post Primary Schools level with sessions in Schull C.S., Hamilton High School and Bantry C.C.
Noel Crowley has a blitz in Knocknagree on Thursday and he continues to generate great turn outs for the blitzes around the county.
Finally for now, we will have mini games this weekend for the Junior Hurling and Football County Finals.
There will be 90 boys from the 4 competing clubs participating and Cork Coaching and Games are organising the games which will include some modified rules such as taking the mark in football and allowing players take a free puck when catching in the air in hurling. The focus here is to reward the catch in both codes.
