Carbery/Beara Post Primary Schools Coaching

As part of the Carbery/Beara coaching plan, four West Cork Post Primary Schools have got coaches assisting in school coaching in both hurling and football. The coach will help in training the teams and help out on match days when needed.

In MICC Dunmanway former Cork and Dohenys footballer Mark Farr has started coaching
the teams there. Aidan Cremin Adrigole (Beara Coaching Officer) is the coach that will be assisting in Beara Community College. David O Mahony, St. Colum's player, is coaching in Schull Community College and both he and Ivan Kingston of Bantry Blues are coaching in Col. Pobal Bheanntrai. This coaching plan is being co-funded by the clubs, the Carbery/Beara boards and Cork Coaching & Games.

A rep from each club with players attending that individual school have formed a support committee, with one member acting as Liaison Officer, relaying information on training and matches between clubs and school.

The Post Primary Schools Coaching Plan is co-ordinated and supported with regular visits and coaching sessions by Carbery/Beara GDO James McCarthy.

This scheme is in addition to similar schemes in Coachford CS, Ballincollig CS and Colaiste Choilm where the local clubs are now supporting their local Post Primary Schools with coaching expertise.

Cork Coaching & Games are also working with over 40 schools to roll out a First Year Blitz Programme with each school getting 7 training tops as a prize for the winners in each school.
