2015-10-02 10:32:00
Rebel Ãg Monster Blitz Preview October 3rd. This Saturday (October 3rd) sees the 2015 final football week-end in the National Dairy Council backed Monster Blitz for the U8, U9 and U10 players around the county commencing at 9.30am at 6 venues involving 2,500 boys.
The scale of this operation is as it says in the title "MONSTER"!
Clonakilty
We start in Clonakilty where we will have over 700 boys playing football at the one time between U8 and U10 blitzes.
Mallow
If one heads to Mallow for 9.30am, you will have the same numbers appearing at U8. The U10âs arrive for a 12.30pm throw in.
St Vincents
Moving to Cork City, St Vincents will play host to 20 under 8 teams.
Nemo Rangers
Nemo Rangers will host 36 teams at under 8 level.
Bishopstown
Bishopstown will cater for 24 teams at U9 level in a unique blitz series which has run since March under GDA Colm Crowley for large and urban clubs.
Mayfield
Mayfield plays host to 16 U10 football teams at 12.30pm
This is no mean setup. All the blitzes will be run off over 2 hours with each boy getting 3 games and approximately 70 minutes game time.
PhotoOp with Cork player
For our end of year blitzes, each club has the opportunity to have photos taken with an inter county star while receiving their end of year medals to mark the occasion.
Rebel Ãg Goals
Before the dust settles on Saturday afternoon, over 2,500 boys will have played on 240 teams in 360 games. This is all going to happen in a total of 4 hours. It is some challenge but the Rebel Ãg Coaching full time staff are accustomed to dealing with the province that is Cork GAA.
Invitation
If you are in or near any of these venues Saturday and have some time to spare, it would be very worthwhile paying a visit to one of these blitzes. They are really a massive spectacle and have to be seen to be believed.
While these initiatives donât guarantee future success the old Irish proverb certainly applies here"tús maith leath na hoibre"
